The company\u00a0originally hoped for a 2023 opening, but in November that was <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/westside-city-project-pushed-back-to-2024\">pushed back to 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason for the last delay was not explained, but the company had previously blamed the Covid-19 pandemic.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delivering its annual report, Suntrust said that as of December 31, 2021, t<strong>he construction work of pile cap had been completed<\/strong>\u00a0while the construction works in the basement and ground floor of the hotel-casino have been &#8220;substantially completed\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US$1bn project is set to include\u00a0<strong>400 gaming tables and 1,200 slot machines<\/strong>, 400 five-star hotel rooms and 960 parking spaces covering 44,000 square metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suntrust Home Developers is indirectly 51 per cent owned by<strong>&nbsp;Suncity Group Holdings Ltd<\/strong>, which was run by Macau junket boss&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/suncity-group-chairman-arrested-in-macau\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alvin Chau Cheok Wa<\/a>&nbsp;until his resignation in early December following his arrest over cross-border gambling and money laundering accusations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SunTrust, Suncity Group\u2019s subsidiary in the Philippines, has announced that the Westside City Project\u2019s completion date remains as scheduled for 2024.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":21794,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"SunTrust, a subsidiary of Suncity Group Holdings Ltd, has confirmed that the US$1bn Westside City Project in the Philippines remains on schedule for a 2024 completion, with substantial progress reported on its hotel-casino construction.
