Matt Bekier has tendered his resignation as managing director and chief executive officer of the Star Entertainment Group amid the ILGA\u2019s public hearings into the casino operator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Australia.- Matt Bekier has stepped down as managing director and CEO of The Star Entertainment Group <\/strong>Limited. The company said Bekier\u2019s decision followed issues raised at the public hearing<\/strong> being held by the New South Wales regulator, the ILGA, into The Star Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last week the inquiry, which is being led by Adam Bell SC, heard that Bekier had\u00a0criticised a KPMG audit<\/a>\u00a0that found Star\u2019s\u00a0risk inspections\u00a0<\/strong>on possible money laundering and terrorist financing were insufficient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Bekier has told the board that he was accountable for the effectiveness and adequacy of the company\u2019s processes, policies<\/strong>, people and culture and added the right thing to do was for him to take responsibility.\u00a0His departure date is yet to be determined. Star said it will make a further announcement once arrangements have been finalised.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
