The company said Bekier\u2019s decision followed issues raised at the <strong>public hearing<\/strong> being held by the New South Wales regulator, the ILGA, into The Star Sydney.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last week the inquiry, which is being led by Adam Bell SC, heard that Bekier had\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/star-ceo-questioned-kpmg-report-on-money-laundering-risk-inquiry-hears\" target=\"_blank\">criticised a KPMG audit<\/a>\u00a0that found Star\u2019s\u00a0<strong>risk inspections\u00a0<\/strong>on possible money laundering and terrorist financing were insufficient. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bekier has told the board that <strong>he was accountable for the effectiveness and adequacy of the company\u2019s processes, policies<\/strong>, people and culture and added the right thing to do was for him to take responsibility.\u00a0His departure date is yet to be determined.
