It&#8217;s now emerged that four of those belong to Golden Dragon Group. The group runs Casino Golden Dragon, Royal Dragon and Casino Million Dragon under SJM Holdings&#8217; licence and Grand Dragon Casino in Taipa under Melco Resorts. It reportedly plans to close all four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Golden Dragon Group is owned by businessman and former legislator Chan Meng Kam. It <strong>operates about 200 gaming tables at its four casinos<\/strong>, accounting for around\u00a0<strong>21 per cent of the 930 tables\u00a0<\/strong>at the Macau&#8217;s satellite casinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Macau has 18 satellite casinos operating under a licence associated with one of six casino franchisees but operated by third parties on their premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under Macau&#8217;s proposed new gambling law, satellite casinos would be allowed to continue operating in the local market but would be given&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-satellite-casinos-three-year-grace-period-could-be-extended\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a three-year grace period<\/a>&nbsp;to link the ownership of their sites to one of the city&#8217;s six franchises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A group of gaming workers affiliated with the Macau Federation of Labour sent a letter to a Legislative Council committee analyzing the final draft of a draft amendment to Macau&#8217;s gaming law, expressing\u00a0<strong>concerns about the future of satellite casinos<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Golden Dragon Group operates the casinos under licence from SJM Holdings and Melco Resorts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":26802,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Golden Dragon Group intends to suspend operations of its four satellite casinos in Macau, representing 21% of the region's satellite gaming tables.
