He said some legislators had asked him if the government could raise the limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concerns arose as\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-law-will-allow-junkets-to-serve-one-casino-operator\" target=\"_blank\">the final draft of Macau\u2019s gaming law amendment bill<\/a> stipulates that junket operators can only earn commissions from their gaming promotion work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chan Chak Mo said: \u201cApart from earning commission for their work, junkets cannot earn any other forms of income, such as revenue split or bonuses.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill would also ban junkets from engaging in revenue-sharing arrangements with casino operators and from operating certain areas or facilities in casino venues.\u00a0Junket operators will each be able to provide <strong>services to only one casino operator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s Legislative Council approved the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-law-amendment-bill-first-reading-approved\" target=\"_blank\">first reading of the gaming law amendment bill<\/a>&nbsp;with just one vote against it on January 24.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Authorities say they&#8217;re not planning to adjust the commission rate for VIP junkets, which is currently capped at 1.25 per cent for rolling chip turnover.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":21513,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau authorities have confirmed no immediate plans to adjust the 1.25% VIP junket commission cap.
