Currently, under a scheme that last year was extended by the Ministry of Finance <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/vietnam-locals-access-to-casinos-to-be-extended-until-2024\" target=\"_blank\">until 2024<\/a>, locals may only gamble at two existing casinos in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vietnamese citizens are only permitted to enter one casino on the southern island of Phu Quoc and one in Van Don, in the northern province of Quang Ninh. However the ministry has now suggested that the planned casinos in<strong>\u00a0Da Nang<\/strong> and on Nha Trang City\u2019s Hon Tre island be added to the scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vietnam\u2019s Ministry of Finance had previously said these two projects\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/vietnams-ministry-of-finance-backs-two-casino-projects\" target=\"_blank\">could potentially foster tourism growth<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last March,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/vietnam-casinos-ask-government-to-let-locals-gamble\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">casino operators<\/a>&nbsp;asked the government to expand&nbsp;<strong>Vietnamese citizens\u2019 access to casinos<\/strong>&nbsp;in major tourist destinations such as&nbsp;<strong>Quang Nam and Ba Ria-Vung Tau<\/strong>&nbsp;to help casinos face the loss of revenue from tourists due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
