{"id":27673,"date":"2022-03-01T06:45:35","date_gmt":"2022-03-01T09:45:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=27673"},"modified":"2026-04-23T10:56:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T13:56:36","slug":"macau-ggr-up-22-in-february","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-up-22-in-february","title":{"rendered":"Macau GGR up 22% in February"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Macau has reported gross gambling revenue of MOP7.76bn (US$963.8m) for February, up 22 per cent month-on-month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-\u00a0<strong>Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>was up 22 per cent\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-down-20-3-in-january\" target=\"_blank\">month-on-month<\/a>\u00a0in February from MOP6.34bn (US$793m) to MOP7.76bn (US$963.8m).\u00a0The figure was also up 6 per cent when compared to February last year, when\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-declines-8-9-in-february\" target=\"_blank\">revenue was MOP7.31bn (US$914.5m)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to analysts at JP Morgan Securities, mass GGR recovered to about 48 per cent of pre-Covid levels, while VIP was at around 5 per cent.\u00a0For the first two months of 2022 combined,<strong>\u00a0Macau\u2019s GGR stands at MOP14.1bn (US$1.75bn)<\/strong>, down 8 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-chinese-new-year-ggr-up-60-year-on-year\" target=\"_blank\">Chinese New Year period<\/a>\u00a0was up 60 per cent when compared to 2021. Average daily tourist arrivals were up 25.4 per cent year-on-year to 16,242 visitors. There were <strong>113,699 visitors\u00a0<\/strong>over the whole holiday period, up 25.4 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mainland China continues to be the only country to have a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/covid-19-vaccine-passports-could-speed-up-macau-tourism-recovery\" target=\"_blank\">largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0with Macau. Those crossing the land border from China must present a Covid-19 test taken no more than 48 hours prior.
