Authorities from PAGCOR have announced an award of PHP175.4m to fund evacuation centres in five local government units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR)<\/strong> was present at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a PHP50m multi-purpose evacuation centre in Barangay Balayan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The regulator also awarded PHP125.4m to four local government units for the construction of evacuation centres in their localities. The cities of New Bataan and Maragusan in Davao de Oro have each received the first tranche of PHP50m.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also, the towns of Dilasag and Dipaculao in Aurora have received the first tranche of the PHP12.7m for MPECs to be constructed in the barangays Dilaguidi and Dinadiawan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo stated: “As PAGCOR expands the reach of its MPEC project, we feel a sense of pride and fulfilment because we know that our efforts to contribute to nation-building are not in vain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n “This project will not only help save lives of locals in calamity-prone areas but will also serve as a venue for empowering communities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n PAGCOR Director James Patrick Bondoc added: “We are grateful to PAGCOR for bringing these kinds of projects to municipalities that have financial difficulties in procuring these facilities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n The regulator has released a total of PHP1.74bn for the construction of 72 MPECs in various parts of the country. PAGOR has also released\u00a0grants totalling more than P14m (close to US$ 272,000)<\/a>\u00a0for the\u00a0University of the Philippines \u2013 Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH)<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0local government units<\/strong>\u00a0(LGUs).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The hospital has received P10m in financial assistance for the procurement of medical equipment that was destroyed when a fire gutted the hospital operating room\u2019s sterilisation area on May 16, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
