The Macau government collected nearly MOP33.9bn (US$4.22bn) in fiscal revenues from direct taxes on gaming in full-year 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Macau\u2019s Financial Services Bureau<\/strong> has reported that the government collected nearly MOP33.9bn (US$4.22bn) in fiscal revenues<\/strong> from direct taxes on gaming in 2021. That figure represents a 13.8 per cent increase<\/strong> year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The collection was just over the government’s last estimation in November (MOP33.7bn) but well below the original budget forecast of MOP50bn. Direct taxes from gaming accounted for 67.2 per cent of the Macau government\u2019s total revenue of MOP50.4bn last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aggregate casino gross gaming revenue<\/strong> in 2021 was MOP86.8bn, an increase of 43.7 per cent on the MOP60.44bn achieved in 2020, but only 60 per cent of the MOP130bn originally expected by authorities. Macau charges an effective tax rate of 39 per cent on casino GGR, 35 per cent in direct government tax and the rest through a number of levies for community good causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
