Macau.- Following the two cases of viral pneumonia<\/a><\/em><\/strong> confirmed in Macau, the city’s Health Bureau has now ordered all casino workers to wear respiratory face masks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau\u2019s gaming regulator, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), released a statement saying the decision was made under provisions of Law No. 2\/2004 on the Prevention and Treatment of Infectious Diseases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The decision was taken to prevent the spread of the deadly Wuhan Coronavirus<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, which has killed 26 people and infected more than 830. It has spread from mainland China to at least seven other countries including Singapore and the United States of America.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDuring the Lunar New Year, DICJ inspectors will be stationed at the casinos to monitor the admission and operation of the casinos for 24 hours, and will continue to review various epidemic prevention measures of gaming companies,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before this order, the DICJ asked gaming operators to monitor the temperature of visitors entering their casinos to prevent more cases of the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Concern is growing after two confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Macau: a 66-year-old from Wuhan in China\u2019s Hubei province that entered Macau<\/a><\/em><\/strong> on Wednesday afternoon and a 52-year-old businesswoman from Wuhan who had spent two days at the New Orient Landmark casino hotel.
