In 2019,\u00a0<strong>Aziz was accused of paying US$300,000 in bribes<\/strong>\u00a0to get his daughter into the University of Southern California. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He denied wrongdoing but was convicted last October of one count of conspiracy to commit federal programmes bribery and one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and wire fraud. The story became known as the \u201cVarsity Blues\u201d college admissions scandal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>US District Judge Nathaniel Gorton<\/strong>, sitting in Boston, Massachusetts, also ordered Aziz to pay a $250,000 fine and serve 400 hours of community service.
