The deadline for submitting comments is March 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It comes after <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/concerns-continue-around-wakayama-ir-funding\" target=\"_blank\">a prefectural assembly committee<\/a>\u00a0tasked with reviewing community disposition towards an integrated resort expressed<strong>\u00a0concern that planning and fundraising for the project remain unclear<\/strong>. Despite its doubts, the committee agreed that\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wakayama-to-begin-ir-public-hearings-on-november-25\" target=\"_blank\">the Wakayama Prefectural Government<\/a>\u00a0can go ahead with the\u00a0public consultation\u00a0to take feedback from the public, city authorities and the prefectural assembly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Wakayama Prefectural Government hopes to\u00a0<strong>open the integrated resort by 2026<\/strong>. It must submit its area development plan to the national government for approval by April 28, 2022. The planned initial investment in the IR development is JPY470bn (US$4.3bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last October, Japan\u2019s bicameral legislature opened the application window for\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/japan-opens-application-period-for-ir-submissions-until-april-2022\" target=\"_blank\">three integrated resorts licences<\/a>.\u00a0There are currently only\u00a0<strong>three cities expected to bid:\u00a0<\/strong>Nagasaki, Osaka and Wakayama.
