Linda Chen, vice-chairman and chief operating officer of Wynn Macau Ltd has hailed gaming performance during the Chinese New Year holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- The Chinese New Year period has come to an end and operators are generally happy with the results following a rise in gross gaming revenue<\/a>\u00a0and visitor numbers. Linda Chen<\/strong>, vice-chairman and chief operating officer of Wynn Macau Ltd told local media the period saw “one of the best results” since the Covid-19 pandemic began more than two years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sanford C. Bernstein Ltd<\/strong> has reported that Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue for the Chinese New Year period was up 60 per cent when compared to 2021<\/a>. Meanwhile, authorities have revealed that average daily tourist arrivals were up 25.4 per cent year-on-year to 16,242 visitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau welcomed 113,699 visitors <\/strong>during the Chinese New Year period, up 25.4 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chen said: “More and more activities held in Macau and festivals will help facilitate the healthy development of the Macau industry.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wynn Macau vice-chairman also briefly touched on the\u00a0gaming law amendment bill<\/a>\u00a0which passed the first reading of the Legislative Council in late January and is currently under consideration and discussion by a subcommittee of the Legislative Council. She said Wynn Macau is “very confident” in the upcoming public tender process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The licences of the city’s six gaming operators are due to expire in June this yea. The government has said existing licences will be extended “short-term” if amendments to the gaming law and a new round of public tenders are not completed on time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
