As a result, Studio City International Holdings is analysing the future of its casino resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, the premises of Studio City Casino is owned by Studio City International Holdings rather than by the gaming operator Melco Resorts and Entertainment Ltd. That may need to change if it&#8217;s to continue operating under the proposed new legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said: &#8220;For that purpose,\u00a0<strong>we would need to seek an amendment to the terms of the Studio City land grant<\/strong>\u00a0and comply with and complete various other administrative procedures which are subject to Macau government\u2019s consents, approvals and authorizations.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It added &#8220;It is not clear from the proposed law how this would affect the status\u201d of the firm\u2019s \u201cexisting services agreements or the arrangements implemented in such agreements after the three-year transition period.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The gaming law amendment bill also proposes that casino operators in Macau be given\u00a0<strong>minimum annual casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) targets<\/strong>, which would be calculated based on the<strong>\u00a0maximum number of gaming tables and gaming machines<\/strong>\u00a0each gaming concessionaire is permitted to operate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill would also allow\u00a0junket operators to each provide services to only one casino operator<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Macau\u2019s new gaming law would end the current sub-concession system that led to the creation of three additional Macau casino licences, including that of Studio City casino resort.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":13997,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau's Legislative Council has approved the first reading of a gaming law amendment bill, which proposes to terminate the sub-concession system, directly impacting entities like Studio City International Holdings and its operational arrangements with Melco Resorts.
