Malacca police chief <strong>Datuk Abdul Maji\u00a0<\/strong>said 260 of the raids involved unlicensed public lottery activities while 565 raids were carried out for illegal online gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There were five raids at call centres, 11 at bookmakers, 18 on indoor gambling and three raids on open gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Abdul Maji added: &#8220;A total of 96 premises carrying out unlicensed gambling activities had their&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/malaysia-police-cut-electricity-supply-to-14-illegal-gambling-dens\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">electricity supplies cut<\/a>&nbsp;last year.\u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to a statement released by the police,<strong>\u00a01,047 people were arrested\u00a0<\/strong>and 607 gaming devices, computers, mobile phones and cash together worth RM159,269 were seized. Abdul Maji said that this year 61 raids were carried out in January, 37 of them involving\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/malaysia-8-arrested-over-illegal-online-gambling\">illegal online gambling activities<\/a>.
