PAGCOR has inaugurated two more Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.-\u00a0The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR)<\/strong>\u00a0continues with its Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPEC) project and has inaugurated two centres located in the city of Legazpi in Albay and the town of Sag\u00f1ay in Camarines Sur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each\u00a0MPEC worth PHP50m\u00a0<\/strong>has provision for kitchen, toilet and shower rooms for men and women, lactating rooms for nursing mothers, and a spacious badminton-court type area that may be used for sports events, training and other purposes when not being used as evacuation facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR president and COO Alfredo Lim<\/strong>\u00a0said: “Last year, we came here to initially fund the MPECs to be constructed in this place.\u00a0Now, we are doubly happy as we see the completion of these evacuation centre projects, which strictly followed the specifications set by PAGCOR.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo\u00a0<\/strong>congratulated the local governments of Legazpi and Sag\u00f1ay for their dedication to finish the projects, in spite of the ongoing pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the project was launched in 2020,\u00a0PAGCOR has released a total of PHP1.635bn\u00a0<\/strong>to kickstart the construction of 67 MPECs nationwide.\u00a0The regulator recently sent 9,000 relief packs and non-food items<\/a>\u00a0to the second district of Surigao del Norte, first district of Cebu City, Puerto Princesa, Palawan and Maribojoc, Bohol, for people affected by Typhoon Odette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Domingo said that despite the Covid-19 pandemic and multiple lockdowns which affected PAGCOR\u2019s revenue<\/a>, the regulator had decided to \u201ccontinue supporting the government in helping Filipinos in need.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casino operators also provided assistance to typhoon victims. The Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc<\/strong> (Solaire Resort and Casino Manila) allocated PHP50m to purchase and deliver relief supplies in hard-hit communities in Visayas and Mindanao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City of Dreams Manila <\/strong>allocated PHP 13.5m to provide food packs and other relief facilities, while Resorts World Manila<\/strong> donated PHP1m to the Red Cross and Okada Manila\u2019s Okada Foundation has pledged PHP 15m to buy relief supplies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
