The Western Sydney Local Health District will oversee providers of multicultural services for its flagship gambling support program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- GambleAware and The Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD) have launched\u00a0a new gambling harm support programme\u00a0<\/strong>to help people dealing with gambling addiction issues. The campaign, funded by the New South Wales<\/strong>\u00a0Office of Responsible Gambling<\/strong> will focus on culturally diverse communities, which it said were more likely to be affected by gambling harm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graeme Loy<\/strong>, chief executive of WSLHD, told local media: “We\u2019re looking forward to working with all GambleAware Providers across NSW to build capacity to support multicultural communities and deliver culturally appropriate services.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: \u201cOur goal is to ensure that anyone who needs help can speak to someone in the language they are most comfortable with, and who understands both their culture and community.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last June,\u00a0the NSW government<\/a>\u00a0launched a campaign dubbed\u00a0\u201cThe Number that Changed My Life\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>focusing on Vietnamese, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese), Hindi and Korean communities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The campaign website stated: \u201cBy presenting a combination of hope and motivation<\/strong>, we help people see that getting support can bring harmony back into their lives, including a happy life with their loved ones.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last year authorities in NSW started to\u00a0test cashless slot machines.\u00a0<\/strong>The machines include spending limits,\u00a0time limits and real-time messaging to customers<\/strong>\u00a0to collaborate with responsible gambling measures. The\u00a0New Lambton club<\/a>\u00a0was the first venue to\u00a0introduce cashless slots last September.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
