PAGCOR has provided assistance to people who suffered the onslaught of Typhoon Odette in December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.-\u00a0The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR)\u00a0<\/strong>has\u00a0<\/strong>sent a total of 9,000 relief packs and non-food items to the second district of Surigao del Norte, first district of Cebu City, Puerto Princesa, Palawan and Maribojoc, Bohol, for people affected by Typhoon Odette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

P<\/strong>AGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo\u00a0<\/strong>said: “Days after the onslaught of typhoon Odette, they reached out to us for their disaster relief efforts through their respective charitable arms which we immediately approved.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Under PAGCOR\u2019s mandate, our licensees must establish Foundations which will undertake establishment of health and educational infrastructure, culture development, relief aid and other similar undertakings.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She said that despite the Covid-19 pandemic and multiple lockdowns which\u00a0affected PAGCOR’s revenue<\/a>, the regulator had decided to “continue supporting the government in helping Filipinos in need.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casino operators also provided assistance to typhoon victims. The Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc<\/strong> (Solaire Resort and Casino Manila) allocated PHP50m to purchase and deliver relief supplies in hard-hit communities in Visayas and Mindanao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

City of Dreams Manila\u00a0<\/strong>allocated PHP 13.5m to provide food packs and other relief facilities, while Resorts World Manila<\/strong> donated PHP1m to the Red Cross and Okada Manila’s Okada Foundation has pledged PHP 15m to buy relief supplies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, PAGCOR<\/a>\u00a0has earned an \u201cexcellent\u201d rating in its 2020 Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) assessment from the Governance Commission for Government-Owned or Controlled Corporations (GCG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its Scorecard Validation report, GCG stated, \u201cPAGCOR has clear and strong lines of communication <\/strong>that allow the agency to respond quickly and efficiently to customer requirements and public needs to ensure consistent quality service.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrea Domingo\u00a0<\/strong>said: \u201cWe have been over two years into this pandemic, and similar to many industries, the gaming sector has not been spared.
