Officers in Singapore have arrested 30 men and 13 women in a series of raids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Singapore.- Police in Singapore have reported that 43 people between the ages of 22 and 81 were arrested<\/strong>\u00a0on suspicion of engaging in illegal gambling activities in a series of raids conducted between November 20 and January 4. Those arrested were 30 men and 13 women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On November 20, 2021,\u00a0officers from Bedok Police Station arrested eight men<\/strong>, aged between 26 and 72, for allegedly gambling. During the raid, police also seized $580 in cash. In a separate operation on December 18, 2021, four men and five women aged 47 to 81 were arrested on suspicion of gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to The Straits Times, one of the men is believed to have been running a casino, while the rest are believed to be clients. During the raid, police seized money and computers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another raid was conducted on January 4<\/strong> at a shophouse\u00a0that was operating as an illegal gambling venue. Police arrested a total of seven men and one woman aged between 22 and 59. Two of them, a 22-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, are believed to have been running the casino, while the other six are believed to be patrons. More than $94,000 in cash and gambling-related paraphernalia were seized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those who manage a venue used for public gaming can be fined between $5,000 and $50,000 and jailed for up to three years. As for patrons, anyone convicted of gambling at a regular casino can be fined up to $5,000, jailed up to six months, or both.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On December 15 2021,\u00a0officers carried out a raid<\/a>\u00a0and found 21 people at a residential unit in Toh Crescent in Loyang.\u00a0Police arrested 13 people for violating the \u201cForeign Workers Employment Law\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and for conducting illegal gambling activities. Police seized a poker table and other gambling equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Previously, police in Singapore<\/a> revealed that 136 people had been placed under investigation<\/strong> for a range of crimes ranging from illegal gambling to drug possession following a week of raids. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
