If the review detects a failure, the operator will need to rectify the situation within a deadline set by the Secretary for Economy and Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government-backed bill proposing amendments to Macau&#8217;s gaming regulations would retain six concessionaires but end\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-likely-to-end-sub-concessions-system-for-casino-operators\">the current sub-concession system<\/a>.\u00a0The<strong> concession period will be for a maximum of 10 years<\/strong> but can be extended for a further three years in exceptional circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new gaming bill would allow\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-gaming-law-will-allow-junkets-to-serve-one-casino-operator\">junket operators<\/a>\u00a0to each provide services to\u00a0<strong>only one casino operator<\/strong> and would <strong>prohibit junkets from turning to third parties to conduct their business<\/strong> except in \u201csituations deemed necessary by their partners, members of the management body or employees.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill stipulates that locals must hold 15 per cent of shares in concessionaires instead of 10 per cent as it is currently required. Operators will be required to notify the government of capital allocations, but there are no restrictions as initially feared.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A previous controversial proposal to elect<strong>\u00a0\u201cdelegates\u201d to Macau\u2019s gaming concessions<\/strong> appears to have been dropped.
