Macau has decided to strengthen restrictions again due to a rise cases of Covid-19 in mainland China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.- Authorities have imposed\u00a0new travel restrictions<\/strong>\u00a0on incoming travellers from mainland China, including those from Macau’s neighbouring city of Zhuhai in Guangdong province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of 6am on Sunday,\u00a0inbound travellers from Zhuhai must present a negative Covid-19 nucleic acid test\u00a0result obtained in the previous 24 hours instead of in the\u00a0previously set 48 hours<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Zhuhai have tightened travel restrictions after seeing a rising number of Covid-19 infections in the city.\u00a0Mass testing of the city’s entire population began on Sunday and will end on Tuesday, according to Zhuhai’s health department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition,\u00a0Macau health authorities have added more locations in mainland provinces\u00a0<\/strong>to the list of places from which passengers must undergo quarantine upon arrival in Macau. Quarantine requirements also include departing passengers from multiple locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsie Ao Ieong U, Macau\u2019s Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture<\/strong>, has announced authorities are analysing the possibility of\u00a0requiring proof of Covid-19 vaccination<\/a>\u00a0or a negative Covid-19 nucleic acid test result for admission to indoor venues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong-China travel bubble likely to be delayed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The chief executive of Hong Kong,\u00a0Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor<\/strong>, has said that an outbreak of Omicron variant Covid-19 cases in Hong Kong may hinder the city\u2019s chances of reaching a quarantine-free travel arrangement<\/a> with mainland China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The\u00a0reopening of the border between Hong Kong and Macau is eagerly awaited\u00a0as Hong Kong has historically accounted for 15 per cent to 20 per cent of Macau\u2019s total gaming revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
