{"id":26294,"date":"2022-01-17T07:18:15","date_gmt":"2022-01-17T10:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=26294"},"modified":"2026-04-23T12:13:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T15:13:42","slug":"macau-casino-operators-in-favour-of-gaming-law-amendment-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-operators-in-favour-of-gaming-law-amendment-bill","title":{"rendered":"Macau casino operators in favour of gaming law amendment bill"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>All six Macau casino operators have shown support for amendments to the gaming regulatory framework announced by the government last Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.- Macau\u2019s six gaming concessionaires, MGM China, Sands China, Wynn Macau, SJM Resorts, Melco Resorts &amp; Entertainment and Galaxy Entertainment Group have all issued statements welcoming proposed amendments to the gaming regulatory framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government of Macau announced on Friday&nbsp;a bill for <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-licences-limited-to-six-with-a-duration-of-10-years\">the city&#8217;s new gaming law<\/a> will allow up to six gaming concessions with a length of 10 years and the possibility of a 3-year extension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>MGM China Holdings Ltd<\/strong> said in its statement that the bill &#8220;provides details over various key aspects of the overall administrative procedures and timetable, outlining a clear roadmap on the upcoming important milestone of retendering.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sands China Ltd.&nbsp;<\/strong>said the amendments provide &#8220;clear guidelines on several proposed changes following feedback from the industry and the general public.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wynn Macau<\/strong>&nbsp;said: \u201cThe enhancement of these regulations will significantly strengthen the sustainable development of Macau.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>SJM Resorts SA<\/strong> said the bill showed \u201cthe Government has taken into account the views collected from the industry and various sectors during the public consultation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Galaxy Entertainment Group <\/strong>also showed support for the new gambling law and said that &#8220;having optimised laws and regulations in place will lay a solid foundation for the city\u2019s steady development.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As regards&nbsp;<strong>Melco Resorts and Entertainment<\/strong>, the casino operator said it is \u201ccommitted to participating in the public tender of the award of a gaming concession and will continue to promote economic diversification.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There would be up to six concessions under the government-backed bill, ending&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-likely-to-end-sub-concessions-system-for-casino-operators\">the current sub-concession system<\/a>.&nbsp;Another condition put forward by the government is that operators can only have a maximum of 30 per cent of their shares listed publicly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities have dropped a proposal to elect<strong>&nbsp;\u201cdelegates\u201d to Macau\u2019s gaming concessions<\/strong>.
