{"id":26191,"date":"2022-01-12T10:16:10","date_gmt":"2022-01-12T13:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=26191"},"modified":"2026-04-23T12:20:27","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T15:20:27","slug":"pagcor-earmarks-php100m-for-two-towns-to-build-evacuation-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-earmarks-php100m-for-two-towns-to-build-evacuation-centres","title":{"rendered":"PAGCOR earmarks PHP100m for two towns to build evacuation centres"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>PAGCOR started the year by remitting PHP100m to the local governments of Buguias and Mankayan for the construction of Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.-&nbsp;<strong>The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR)<\/strong>&nbsp;continues with its MPEC Project and has recently remitted PHP100m to two towns in Benguet for the construction of two-storey Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPECs).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each town has already received PHP25m during the project\u2019s groundbreaking ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo&nbsp;<\/strong>said through its MPEC project, the state-run gaming firm stays committed to its mission of providing calamity-prone communities with safe evacuation shelters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the project was launched in 2020,<strong>&nbsp;PAGCOR has released a total of PHP1.516bn&nbsp;<\/strong>to kickstart the construction of 66 MPECs nationwide.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount represents the first tranche or 50 per cent of PAGCOR&#8217;s committed funding for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Domingo also explained: &#8220;Despite the challenges in revenue generation due to the ongoing pandemic&#8230;&nbsp;<strong>we still hold on to our promise of helping build safe structures<\/strong>&nbsp;for typhoon-prone communities.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Last December,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-earmarks-php75m-to-three-towns-to-build-evacuation-centres\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PAGCOR<\/a>&nbsp;also remitted PHP75m to three towns in the Eastern Visayas region.
