The Philippines.- The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR)<\/strong> continues with its MPEC Project and has recently remitted PHP100m to two towns in Benguet for the construction of two-storey Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPECs). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Each town has already received PHP25m during the project\u2019s groundbreaking ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Andrea Domingo <\/strong>said through its MPEC project, the state-run gaming firm stays committed to its mission of providing calamity-prone communities with safe evacuation shelters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Since the project was launched in 2020, PAGCOR has released a total of PHP1.516bn <\/strong>to kickstart the construction of 66 MPECs nationwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The amount represents the first tranche or 50 per cent of PAGCOR’s committed funding for the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Domingo also explained: “Despite the challenges in revenue generation due to the ongoing pandemic… we still hold on to our promise of helping build safe structures<\/strong> for typhoon-prone communities.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n Last December, PAGCOR<\/a> also remitted PHP75m to three towns in the Eastern Visayas region.
