Authorities in Kuching carried out a raid and busted three online gambling call centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Malaysia.- Officers in Kuching, Malaysia, confirmed a total of 22 people were arrested<\/strong> during a series of raids at three online gambling call centres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Those arrested are aged between 20 and 30 years and police also revealed among them there were 17 foreigners.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities told The Borneo Post: “The workers were hired to promote illegal gambling websites, either by calling their customers or using mobile applications such as WhatsApp, Telegram, WeChat and Facebook.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the first raid, police arrested four locals and three foreigners. The second raid ended with eight foreigners arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The third and final raid was carried out at a residential flat where six foreigners and a local woman were arrested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the raids, police also seized computers, modems and equipment<\/strong> to carry out illegal gambling activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last December, police arrested five Indonesian<\/a> men who were acting as credit top-up and online gambling credit withdrawal operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the raid, police seized laptops, mobile phones, wireless modems and a tablet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
