The figure was also up 43.7 per cent year-on-year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However,&nbsp;<strong>the figure was down 79.3 per cent&nbsp;<\/strong>when compared to pre-pandemic levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The December figure was also<strong>\u00a0the sixth-best of the year\u00a0<\/strong>while October saw the lowest monthly GGR of 2021, mainly due to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-faces-new-covid-19-cases-in-october-golden-week\">an outbreak of local Covid-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0at the beginning of the month, which led to low numbers of tourist arrivals for the October Golden Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Morgan Stanley lowers Macau GGR forecast for 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/morgan-stanley-lowers-macau-ggr-forecast-for-2022\">Morgan Stanley Banking Group<\/a><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>has lowered its estimate of Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for 2022 by 30 per cent to US$15bn.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to analysts,<strong>&nbsp;the market has seen an intermittent recovery, but travel restrictions and regulatory uncertainty will remain in the first half of 2022<\/strong>.
