Four <a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macaus-last-public-consultation-session-was-held-today\">public consultations<\/a> on gaming laws were held between October 22 and 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report suggests the majority of opinions shared during the consultation were against proposed controls on dividend distribution. The<strong>&nbsp;government has promised to consider the concerns<\/strong>&nbsp;expressed and suggestions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report stated: \u201cMost of the opinions disagree with the respective proposal. They understand that establishing prior authorization from the Government constitutes a limitation that will interfere with the free market and may ward off the interest of concessionaires\/sub-concessionaires in investing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As for the introduction of<strong>&nbsp;\u201cdelegates\u201d to Macau\u2019s gaming concessions<\/strong> to create a greater checking limit on the activity of the gaming firms, 57 people agreed with the proposal while 38 people were against it.&nbsp;The government said it understood the view that&nbsp;government representatives may interfere with operators&#8217; activities&nbsp;and independence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>the number and duration of future gaming concessions<\/strong>, the majority of opinions were in favour of increasing the number of franchises from the current three to six. The majority also agreed with the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-likely-to-end-sub-concessions-system-for-casino-operators\">government\u2019s proposal to end the current sub-concession system<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Regarding <strong>the length of casino concessions<\/strong>, 42 per cent said they should be less than the current 20 years; 32 per cent of people agreed with the current length and 9.9 per cent wanted a longer period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities said: \u201cIn the development process of the gaming sector, maintaining a certain size constitutes an important basis for guaranteeing social stability and employment of residents.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Authorities have revealed that most opinions were against the proposed controls on dividend distribution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":25621,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has released public consultation results on proposed gaming legislation changes.
