Bernstein Ltd<\/strong>\u00a0has reported that Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the third week of December declined 3 per cent when compared to\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-down-12-in-second-week-of-december\">the previous week<\/a>. According to analysts, the decline was mainly due to a new outbreak of Covid-19 cases across China, especially in the neighbouring province of Guangdong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The average daily rate between December 13 to 19 was MOP221m (US$27.5m).\u00a0<strong>Month-to-date GGR was MOP4.45bn (US$550m)<\/strong>, down 68 per cent when compared to pre-pandemic levels but up 4 per cent month-on-month.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VIP holdings were below the normal range, while rolling volumes fell by 40 per cent to 45 per cent as more junkets closed for business after\u00a0the arrest of <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/suncity-group-chairman-arrested-in-macau\">Alvin Chau Cheok Wa<\/a>, Suncity Group&#8217;s CEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A week ago,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/gaming-operators-will-terminate-agreements-with-junkets-analysts-say\">analysts at Morgan Stanley<\/a>\u00a0predicted\u00a0<strong>gaming concessionaires would terminate their agreements\u00a0<\/strong>with junkets, effectively ending the industry in the city even if the authorities have not formally ordered a ban. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far this month, mass-market revenues have increased by 10 per cent when compared to the previous month.
