{"id":2554,"date":"2020-01-21T12:42:18","date_gmt":"2020-01-21T12:42:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=2554"},"modified":"2026-04-24T08:42:57","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T11:42:57","slug":"hokkaido-japan-resort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/hokkaido-japan-resort","title":{"rendered":"Hokkaido back in Japan IR race"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Prefecture considers including operating expenses in general accounting budget for a future IR bid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Japan.- Although the Governor of <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/mohegan-hokkaido-resort\">Hokkaido<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, Naomichi Suzuki, confirmed in December that the prefecture would not launch IR bid, the jurisdiction has performed a u-turn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite his announcement last year, Suzuki has said he will push for an IR in his prefecture and will fight for one of the three licences up for grabs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will make the necessary preparations so we are ready for the challenge when the time comes,\u201d the governor said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/topics\/hokkaido\">Hokkaido<\/a><\/em><\/strong> is considering including operating expenses in the general accounting budget for a future IR bid, putting the prefecture very much back in the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suzuki is not the only one to talk about Hokkaido\u2019s change of plan. According to Inside Asian Gaming, Hard Rock Japan\u2019s Ado Machida also confirmed its intention to secure a licence. \u201cWe will continue to do our best to promote an IR bid for Hokkaido.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The candidate site, Tomakomai City, hopes developing an IR will attract foreign visitors by utilizing the area\u2019s natural tourist resources.
