The Nagasaki Prefectural Government has confirmed there have been some changes to the original design plan for its proposed IR.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
Japan.- The Nagasaki Prefectural Government<\/strong> has told GGRAsia that it has decided to\u00a0change the plan for its proposed IR to an architectural design\u00a0that uses curved surfaces<\/strong> in order to enhance the venue’s symbolism. It said the forecast cost of the project has not changed and remains JPY350bn (US$3.2bn)<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to local reports, the revised design was submitted to the Nagasaki Prefectural Assembly on Monday. At the latest\u00a0Nagasaki Prefectural Council<\/strong>\u00a0meeting, questions were raised over whether the city\u2019s chosen private sector partners would be able to raise funds and form an effective consortium to develop an integrated resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In response, authorities said they would soon submit a draft regional development plan to the relevant committee of parliament, but there was no information on the construction of the consortium and fundraising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In August, the Nagasaki Prefectural Government selected\u00a0Casinos Austria International<\/a>\u00a0as its priority choice as a partner for its IR bid and the parties signed a master agreement under the name \u201cKyushu-Nagasaki IR\u201d.<\/strong>\u00a0The Nagasaki Prefectural Government has previously said it expects\u00a0the IR to open in 2027\u00a0<\/strong>and to generate\u00a0annual gross gaming revenue<\/a>\u00a0(GGR) of JPY150bn (US$1.37bn).<\/p>\n\n\n\n As previously reported by Focus Gaming News, only\u00a0three cities <\/strong>are currently expected to bid for Japan’s three possible IR licences:\u00a0<\/strong>Nagasaki, Osaka and\u00a0Wakayama<\/a>.\u00a0However, Kuwana\u2019s mayor Narutaka<\/a>\u00a0has asked Mie prefecture. to apply since only prefectures and cities designated by law can make applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The mayor is said to have asked Mie\u2019s former governor to consider Kuwana as an IR bidder in 2019 but didn\u2019t get a positive response on that occasion. <\/p>\n\n\n\nKuwana could join the race for an integrated resort in Japan<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
