The regulator has confirmed it has sent PHP50m to the municipalities of Laurel in Batangas and Calauan in Laguna for the construction of Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The Philippines.-\u00a0\u00a0The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR)\u00a0<\/strong>continues to remit money to help cities build storey Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPECs). This time, the regulator has remitted PHP50m to the municipalities of Laurel in Batangas and Calauan in Laguna.\u00a0It released the first tranche of PHP25m\u00a0<\/strong>on December 3, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramil Hernandez, Laguna governor, said the province is the third most populated in the country and in need of such infrastructure, which will be useful not only during calamities but also for the proper implementation of other government services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAGCOR has released a total of PHP1.3bn for the construction of 59 MPECs since the project began last year. Last week, the regulator remitted\u00a0PHP75m to three towns in the Eastern Visayas region<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ramon Stephen Villaflor, PAGCOR\u2019s acting vice president for corporate social responsibility, said: \u201cThis project is in response to the government\u2019s priority to build more safe evacuation centres nationwide since the country is prone to various calamities such as typhoons, earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
