According to officers, those arrested, aged between 25 to 28 years old, were\u00a0<strong>operating a website for online gambling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bangkok Post reported that during the raid, police seized computers, monitors, wi-fi routers and eight mobile phones. The illegal gambling ring allegedly generated nearly 2m baht a month in revenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of those arrested said the<strong> illegal gambling hub was previously operating in Cambodia<\/strong>. It moved to Thailand due to the Covid-19 pandemic but was planning to return to Cambodia by the end of December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In October,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/thailand-30-arrested-for-illegal-gambling\">police arrested 30 people<\/a>\u00a0for alleged involvement in an illegal gambling venue located at a resort in the Takean Tia sub-district of Bang Lamung. In November, it was also revealed\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/103-thai-citizens-rescued-from-gambling-ring-in-cambodia\">103 Thai citizens were rescued<\/a>\u00a0from a Chinese-run online gambling ring.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a Thai police official responsible for overseeing anti-human trafficking operations, Thai and Cambodian officials cooperated in an operation in the southern Cambodian province of Pursat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Roy Ingkaroj, deputy national police chief, told Khmer Times: \u201cWhen Thai officials learned of the incident, we contacted Cambodian security forces in Pursat and the Thai embassy to rescue them.
