{"id":2506,"date":"2020-01-20T10:05:39","date_gmt":"2020-01-20T10:05:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=2506"},"modified":"2026-04-24T08:46:28","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T11:46:28","slug":"vietnam-police-illegal-gambling","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/vietnam-police-illegal-gambling","title":{"rendered":"Vietnam: 395 arrested after raid on illegal online gambling ring"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Police bust reveals illegal online gambling network operating 187 gambling websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Vietnam.- Vietnamese police, working alongside China\u2019s Ministry of Public Security and the Zhuhai Police, have arrested 395 suspects for operating an illegal internet gambling organisation worth more than RMB3 billion (\u20ac394 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The raid uncovered a tranche of domain names that included the words Grand Lisboa Macau, the name of one of Macau\u2019s most iconic integrated resorts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to China state news agency\u00a0<em>Xinhua<\/em>, the suspects were arrested in Vietnam\u2019s Hai Phong City near Hanoi where 21 criminal gangs were working together across ten rented apartments from which they were running the 187 gambling websites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The operation is said to have been started by a group of five individuals in Shenzhen and Huizhou in 2017 before moving to Vietnam in 2018.
