Macau has reported gross gambling revenue of MOP6.75bn (US$844m) for November, up 54.6 per cent month-on-month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.-\u00a0Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>was up 54.6 per cent month-on-month in November, from MOP4.37bn (US$544m) to MOP6.75bn (US$844m). The figure was also up slightly when compared to November 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The positive numbers were driven by a rise in daily average of visitor numbers. October had seen the lowest monthly GGR of 2021, mainly due to\u00a0an outbreak of local Covid-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0at the beginning of the month, which led to low numbers of tourist arrivals for the October Golden Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau tourism office director\u00a0Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes\u00a0<\/strong>noted that after the\u00a0lifting of Covid-19 restrictions<\/a>, the MGTO launched a campaign to promote the city as a safe destination. Aggregate\u00a0casino GGR for the first eleven months of the year<\/strong>\u00a0totals MOP78.90bn, up 49.9 per cent year-on-year from MOP52.62bn in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Macau<\/a>\u00a0are in talks with mainland China about\u00a0restarting the electronic version of the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS)<\/strong>\u00a0but it seems nothing will change in the short term.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau expects up to 10 million visitors in 2022<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the Macau Government Tourism Office<\/a>, the city could receive up to 10 million visitors in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Between January and October this year, the city received 6.08 million tourists, up 32.2 per cent year-on-year. It saw a daily average of 26,655 visitors between November 12 to November 18, while November 19 saw the highest number of arrivals since the beginning of the month with 35,525 visitors for\u00a0the finale of the 68th Macau Grand Prix<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
