Nihon Keizai Shimbun news has said that the city of <strong>Kuwana <\/strong>is interested in bidding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, only&nbsp;<strong>three cities are expected to bid for three possible licences:&nbsp;<\/strong>Nagasaki, Osaka and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wakayama-postpones-ir-public-hearings-due-to-lack-of-information\">Wakayama<\/a>.&nbsp;But Kuwana\u2019s mayor Narutaka has expressed his interest Mie&#8217;s prefecture as only prefectures and cities designated by law can apply.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to GGRAsia, <strong>Katsuyuki Ichimi<\/strong>, the current governor of Mie Prefecture, said: &#8220;It is important to take the opinions of the city and residents there into consideration. There are both positive and negative sides to having an IR.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mayor is said to have asked Mie&#8217;s former governor to consider Kuwana as an IR bidder in 2019 but didn&#8217;t get a positive response on that occasion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Japan\u2019s bicameral legislature has opened the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/japan-opens-application-period-for-ir-submissions-until-april-2022\">application window for three integrated resorts licences<\/a>.
