Macau saw a daily average of 26,655 visitors between November 12 to November 18, while November 19 saw the highest number of tourist arrivals since the beginning of the month with 35,525 visitors for <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-casino-operators-to-sponsor-grand-prix-races\">the finale of the 68th Macau Grand Prix<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The daily average was up 150.9 per cent when compared to the previous month when the city was deeply affected by\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-faces-new-covid-19-cases-in-october-golden-week\">an outbreak of local Covid-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0that led to low numbers for the October Golden Week. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macaus-inbound-tourist-daily-tally-continues-recovering-in-november\">Macau saw a daily average rate<\/a>\u00a0of 25,433 visitors between November 5 and November 11.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Macau Grand Prix took place from November 9 to 21 despite the absence of international competitors due to Covid-19 restrictions. The competition was<strong> sponsored by all six Macau casino operators<\/strong>: SJM, Sands China, Galaxy Entertainment, Melco, MGM and Wynn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Macau tourism office director&nbsp;<strong>Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes&nbsp;<\/strong>noted that after the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-outbound-travellers-must-present-negative-covid-19-test\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lifting of Covid-19 restrictions<\/a>, the MGTO launched a campaign to promote the city as a safe destination.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-continues-negotiating-with-mainland-china-on-e-visas\">Authorities in Macau<\/a>\u00a0are in talks with mainland China about\u00a0<strong>restarting the electronic version of the Individual Visit Scheme (IVS)<\/strong>\u00a0but it seems nothing will change in the short term.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">China to ease travel restrictions with Hong Kong from December<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The South China Morning Post newspaper has reported that two unidentified China sources have confirmed\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-to-ease-travel-restrictions-with-hong-kong-from-december\">the opening of borders between China and Hong Kong<\/a>\u00a0from December.\u00a0According to the sources, under a test programme,\u00a0<strong>one hundred people per day will be allowed<\/strong>\u00a0to enter from Hong Kong without undergoing quarantine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reopening of the border between Hong Kong and China could be a crucial step for Macau as Hong Kong has historically accounted for 15 per cent to 20 per cent of Macau\u2019s total gaming revenue and allowing travel without isolation could help a recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hong Kong and mainland China together account for approximately<strong>&nbsp;90 per cent of Macau\u2019s GGR<\/strong>.
