{"id":24596,"date":"2021-11-17T07:44:19","date_gmt":"2021-11-17T10:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=24596"},"modified":"2026-04-23T13:46:40","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T16:46:40","slug":"pagcor-helps-build-evacuation-centres-in-bicol-and-quezon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-helps-build-evacuation-centres-in-bicol-and-quezon","title":{"rendered":"PAGCOR helps build evacuation centres in Bicol and Quezon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The regulator has remitted PHP150m to six towns and cities in the Bicol region and Quezon province for the construction of Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres (MPEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Philippines.-\u00a0<strong>The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp (PAGCOR)<\/strong>\u00a0has remitted PHP150m to six towns and cities in the Bicol region and Quezon province to help them build Multi-Purpose Evacuation Centres. <strong>Andrea Domingo, PAGCOR chairman<\/strong>, released PHP25m each to the provincial government of Camarines Norte as well as the municipal government of Santa Elena, Camarines Norte.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount represents<strong>\u00a0the first tranche of funding for the construction of two-storey MPECs<\/strong>\u00a0in the towns of Labo and Santa Elena. Each MPEC has funding of PHP50m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Domingo stated: &#8220;The MPEC project, being one of our flagship CSR programs, has always been designed to help provide long term solutions to our countrymen who live in vulnerable communities.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;While PAGCOR has always been providing relief aid to calamity-stricken communities, we give equal importance to their safety by helping LGUs build typhoon-resilient structures.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PAGCOR has released a total of PHP1.2bn to start the construction of 55 MPECs since the project began last year. In September, it\u00a0PAGCOR\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-helps-fund-construction-of-evacuation-centres\">remitted PHP25m<\/a> to the municipalities of Louisiana and Victoria. Louisiana and Victoria are classified as fourth-class towns, with\u00a0<strong>a population of more than 70,000<\/strong>. Evacuating people in emergencies and extreme weather conditions poses a huge challenge for disaster relief services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PAGCOR posts US$2.1m in net income for Q3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/pagcor-posts-us2-1m-in-net-income-for-q3\">PAGCOR<\/a>\u00a0reported that net income for the third quarter of the year was PHP104.9m (US$2.1m). Gross income from gaming operations reached PHP7.05bn, making an aggregate of PHP22.28bn in the first nine months of the current year. <strong>PAGCOR paid out a total of PHP3.94bn in gaming taxes\u00a0<\/strong>and contributions during the third quarter.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July,\u00a0PAGCOR\u00a0said\u00a0<strong>gaming income for the first half fell by 20 per cent year-on-year<\/strong>\u00a0to PHP14.7bn (US$293.1m).
