{"id":2432,"date":"2020-01-17T08:45:20","date_gmt":"2020-01-17T08:45:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=2432"},"modified":"2026-04-24T08:50:41","modified_gmt":"2026-04-24T11:50:41","slug":"wakayama-resort-bribe-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wakayama-resort-bribe-scandal","title":{"rendered":"Wakayama Governor says  bribe scandal will not affect IR plans"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Governor Nisaka says the scandal won\u2019t impact Wakayama\u2019s IR plans <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Japan.- After Japan\u2019s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Yoshihide Suga, said that the bribery case involving Chinese online gaming firm 500.com <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/bribe-scandal-japan-resorts\">will not impact the IR schedule<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, Governor Yoshinobu Nisaka of Wakayama Prefecture has also tried to calm the storm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nisaka confirmed that the scandal won\u2019t have consequences on Wakayama\u2019s IR plans and that there has been no connection between the Chinese company and its proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf there was a similar incident involving public construction, would you stop all construction in its tracks?\u201d, he answered when the media asked about the bribe scandal. \u201cThere will likely be no delay,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a lot of cities looking to gain approval for the construction of one of three IRs in the country. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the prefectures of Hokkaido, Nagasaki, Osaka, Wakayama have shown interest.
