According to local media reports,\u00a0<strong>Decree No. 166 establishes a minimum capital requirement\u00a0<\/strong>of KHR800bn (US$200m) for integrated commercial gambling centres and KHR400bn for other gambling venues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Existing casinos have been granted a grace period to meet the minimum capital requirements, which will include five stages of 15 years.\u00a0The first phase from the first to third years will have a requirement of KHR50bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mey Vann, Secretary of State<\/strong>, told Phnom Penh Post the new requirements are in response to the level of economic growth and are aimed at improving the management of Cambodia\u2019s casino sector under the Integrated Resorts and Commercial Gambling Management Act (LMCG).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The government has been studying how to better regulate the industry and\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-and-cambodia-renew-agreement-on-cross-border-crime\">ban online gambling business<\/a>, which was made illegal in 2020. Casinos that cannot meet the new capital requirements will not obtain a new business licence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Cambodia eases Covid-19 restrictions for fully vaccinated visitors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/cambodia-eases-covid-19-restrictions-for-fully-vaccinated-visitors\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Business travellers<\/a>&nbsp;and certain professional experts&nbsp;<strong>who arrive in Cambodia will need need to undergo a mandatory three-day quarantine&nbsp;<\/strong>instead of 14 days.
