During the first nine months of the year,\u00a0<strong>Macau welcomed almost 5.76 million guests<\/strong>, up 43.2 per cent year-on-year. Mainland China continues to be the only country to have a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/covid-19-vaccine-passports-could-speed-up-macau-tourism-recovery\">largely quarantine-free travel bubble<\/a>\u00a0with Macau.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is expected that the figure will decline in October due to a new\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-october-golden-week-at-risk-amid-local-covid-19-cases\">outbreak of Covid-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0in the city, which had a deep impact on the highly anticipated October Golden Week.\u00a0Data from the Public Security Police show that daily average visitors to Macau during the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-golden-week-visitors-down-93\">holiday period<\/a>\u00a0was\u00a0<strong>down 93.7 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>compared with last year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zhuhai deemed Macau to be a\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-classified-as-medium-to-high-risk-area-by-zhuhai\">medium-to-high risk area<\/a>\u00a0for Covid-19 and authorities\u00a0<strong>tightened restrictions\u00a0<\/strong>for people who have travelled from Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts also expect&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-for-october-likely-to-be-down-80-analysts-say\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">revenue will be down 80 per cent<\/a>&nbsp;when compared to pre-pandemic levels.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Arrivals were up 53.7 per cent when compared to August, mainly due to an easing of travel restrictions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":176,"featured_media":18881,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"is_press_release":false,"is_interview":false,"is_opinion":false,"focusai_summary":"Macau experienced a significant increase in visitor arrivals in September, up 53.7% from August, primarily due to eased travel restrictions, with Mainland China remaining the sole quarantine-free source market.
