{"id":23753,"date":"2021-10-21T09:53:46","date_gmt":"2021-10-21T12:53:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=23753"},"modified":"2026-04-23T14:35:52","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T17:35:52","slug":"sands-china-posts-us423m-net-loss-for-q3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-china-posts-us423m-net-loss-for-q3","title":{"rendered":"Sands China posts US$423m net loss for Q3"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Sands China has reported a net loss of US$423m for the third quarter of 2021, compared to a loss of US$166m in the previous quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Macau.-\u00a0<strong>Sands China<\/strong>\u00a0has shared its financial results for the third quarter of the year, revealing a higher <strong>net loss of US$423m.<\/strong> Despite an increase from <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-china-posts-us166-in-net-losses-for-q2\">the previous quarter<\/a>, the figure is an improvement on the US$562m loss recorded a year ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The casino operator&#8217;s\u00a0<strong>revenue for the third quarter declined 28 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0sequentially to US$611m. However, it was still a 265.9 per cent improvement when compared to the US$167m recorded in 2020. Adjusted property EBITDA during the third quarter was US$32m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Robert Goldstein, Las Vegas Sands\u2019 chairman and chief executive<\/strong>, said: &#8220;We remain confident in the eventual recovery in travel and tourism spending across our markets.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The largest proportion of revenue came from\u00a0<strong>The Venetian Macau,\u00a0<\/strong>which generated US$253m and US$40m in adjusted EBITDA. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/sands-expects-the-londoner-to-see-similar-revenue-to-the-venetian\">The Londoner<\/a>\u00a0generated US$123m and the Parisian Macau US$102m. The former saw a positive US$5m in adjusted property results, while The Londoner finished with a negative US$33m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts at<strong>\u00a0JP Morgan Securities\u00a0<\/strong>said Sands China&#8217;s GGR was down 37 per cent quarter-on-quarter but that non-gaming revenue declined by only 4 per cent, mainly due to retail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/marina-bay-sands-renegotiates-credit-terms\">Marina Bay Sands<\/a>, Las Vegas Sands property in Singapore, reported net revenues of US$249m for the third quarter, down 11.4 per cent year-on-year.
