Macau has reported gross gambling revenue of MOP$18.76bn (US$2.34bn) for the third quarter of the year, down 26 per cent quarter-on-quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Macau.-\u00a0Macau\u2019s gross gaming revenue (GGR)\u00a0<\/strong>for Q3 was down 26 per cent quarter-on-quarter, at MOP$18.76bn (US$2.34bn). The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ)\u00a0<\/strong>has also revealed that\u00a0mass-market GGR<\/strong>\u00a0accounted for\u00a0about 68 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>of total casino gaming revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At MOP12.81bn ($1.60bn), mass-market GGR was down 24 per cent<\/strong>\u00a0when\u00a0compared to the previous quarter<\/a>. VIP baccarat\u00a0was down 29.9 per cent quarter-on-quarter<\/strong>, representing 32 per cent of total GGR. Mass-market baccarat represented 56 per cent of GGR at MOP10.56bn. Slot machines generated MOP1.08bn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to analysts, the fourth quarter will be the worst of the year, with numbers expected to be down 97 per cent compared to pre-pandemic levels after poor results during the\u00a0October Golden Week 2021<\/a> due to local Covi-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the holiday period, from October 1 to October 7,\u00a08,159 people<\/strong>\u00a0arrived in Macau,\u00a0down 93.7 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>compared with last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Macau gaming law consultation sessions rescheduled<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Authorities in Macau<\/a>\u00a0have rescheduled the public consultation sessions on gaming laws that were cancelled due to the outbreak of\u00a0local Covid-19 cases<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Typhoon Kompasu<\/a>.\u00a0They will now be held between October 22 to 25\u00a0<\/strong>in morning and evening sessions to comply with social distancing regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lei Wai Nong<\/a>, secretary for economy and finance, has said that the schedule for the consultation would continue for the planned 45 days<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Macau\u2019s gaming law revision is finished, there will be 180 days to write the final report<\/strong>, after which a draft will be submitted to the Legislative Assembly for additional conversation. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
