In a five-hour raid, <strong>officers seized gambling paraphernalia and cash<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Those arrested face multiple charges for gambling and violations of Covid-19 restrictions<strong> <\/strong>and will appear in court for trial.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to The Thaiger, those arrested will face additional charges for violating Covid-19 countermeasures. That can carry up to 40,000 Thai baht fine and 2 years imprisonment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thailand has some of the strictest laws regarding gambling, which is entirely illegal. Authorities have blamed illegal gambling dens for spreading Covid-19, particularly in eastern provinces.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July, police&nbsp;<strong>arrested 18 people&nbsp;<\/strong>in&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/thailand-18-arrested-over-online-gambling\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raids on two houses<\/a>&nbsp;in Pathum Thani that were allegedly being used as bases for an online gambling syndicate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thailand\u2019s Cyber Police said the<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>syndicate ran online gambling sites and online football betting. According to local media,&nbsp;<strong>police seized 16 computers, luxury cars and money<\/strong>.
