A final report is expected to be released before the end of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Australia.- The inquiry into the suitability of Crown Resorts to hold a casino licence for Crown Melbourne is close to the end. <strong>Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission will finally send its findings\u00a0<\/strong>to the government at the end of this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s a chance that <strong>Crown Resorts could be deemed unsuitable to continue holding a gaming licence<\/strong>, however, it could be permitted to remain open with conditions as a result of the size of its economic role. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-resorts-to-go-into-default-if-it-loses-licence\">Crown Resorts<\/a>\u00a0has warned that if it loses its licence, the company could go into default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown Melbourne is currently operating with restaurants, bars and a hotel, but no gambling. However, investors expect the casino operator could retain gambling in some way albeit with supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Melissa Horne<\/strong>, minister for consumer affairs, gaming and liquor regulation, said: &#8220;We\u2019ll consider the findings and recommendations from the Royal Commission in detail and take whatever action is necessary to strengthen casino oversight in Victoria and ensure that this never happens again.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The casino operator has argued that its venue in Melbourne is\u00a0<strong>one of the biggest single-site employers in the state\u00a0<\/strong>with more than 11,500 employees. It said it has paid at least AU$1.4bn in casino taxes and community benefit levies since 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>John Ayoub, a portfolio manager at Wilson Asset Management which has Crown shares<\/strong>, stated: &#8220;The expectation is that they will be deemed unfit, that\u2019s what most of the market is telling you. The unknown is: what does that mean?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In July,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-melbournes-casino-licence-should-be-cancelled-inquiry-hears\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adrian Finanzio<\/a>, counsel assisting the inquiry, told Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission that&nbsp;<strong>Crown Melbourne should lose its casino licence&nbsp;<\/strong>due to serious misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finanzio argued that the evidence against Crown Melbourne during the inquiry showed \u201cserious misconduct,\u00a0<strong>illegal conduct and highly inappropriate conduct<\/strong>, which has been encouraged or facilitated by a culture which has consistently put profit before all other considerations.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judge Raymond Finkelstein, who is leading the state of Victoria\u2019s inquiry, was originally due to<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/crown-resorts-royal-commission-aims-to-report-by-august-1\">release his report by August 1<\/a>\u00a0but <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/victorias-royal-commission-extends-inquiry-into-crown-resorts\">requested an extension<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crown Resorts is also facing an inquiry by the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/wa-royal-commission-extends-inquiry-into-crown-perth\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Western Australian Royal Commission<\/a>&nbsp;that<strong>&nbsp;will continue until March 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The WA Royal Commission was expected to deliver&nbsp;<strong>a final report by November 14&nbsp;<\/strong>but Western Australia Premier Mark McGowan said: \u201cThe state government believes that public interest will be best served if the Perth casino Royal Commission has sufficient time to produce its final report.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Victoria\u2019s Royal Commission into Crown Resorts will share its findings with the government on Friday.
