The proposed changes include the introduction of\u00a0<strong>individual operating licences for electronic gaming machines<\/strong>\u00a0hosted in brick-and-mortar venues and new tax rates on gaming revenue in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The bill would also end\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/federal-group-protests-tasmania-licence-changes\">Federal Group casino\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0exclusive licence agreement. The company has claimed<strong>\u00a0authorities did not appropriately inform the company about changes to its exclusive licence agreement<\/strong>\u00a0to operate electronic gaming machines within two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A prior public consultation on <strong>Gaming Control Amendment (Future Gaming Market) Bill 2021\u00a0<\/strong>received 68 submissions.\u00a0There are concerns that lawmakers will not take the opportunity to implement stricter damage minimisation measures for poker machines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Josh Willie from the Labor Party has said that if the Government does not consider\u00a0<strong>the implementation of harm minimisation measures<\/strong>, his party will make proposals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Andrew Wilkie, a Member of Parliament<\/strong>, said some gambling harm minimisation measures are needed as implementing a maximum bet limit of AU$1, to dial back the poker machines&#8217; spinning time and to introduce stricter punishments for clubs and bars that don&#8217;t follow the guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is expected the House of Assembly will pass the bill without any problems.
