{"id":23241,"date":"2021-10-04T08:11:41","date_gmt":"2021-10-04T11:11:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=23241"},"modified":"2026-04-23T15:06:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:06:01","slug":"skycity-hamilton-in-temporary-closure-for-a-snap-five-day-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/skycity-hamilton-in-temporary-closure-for-a-snap-five-day-lockdown","title":{"rendered":"SkyCity Hamilton in temporary closure for a snap five-day lockdown"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SkyCity Entertainment Group has reported that its Hamilton venue will remain closed for at least five days amid a new outbreak of Covid-19 cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">New Zealand.-\u00a0<strong>Authorities in New Zealand\u00a0<\/strong>have places the city of Hamilton under Level 3 restrictions due to two new Covid-19 cases registered in the last week. <strong>SkyCity has temporarily shut down its Hamilton venue\u00a0<\/strong>for at least five days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SkyCity Auckland property also remains closed<\/strong>\u00a0as Auckland remains at Covid-19 Alert Level 3. <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/skycity-to-reopen-hamilton-and-queenstown-casinos\">SkyCity Queenstown<\/a>\u00a0has reopened its doors on September 7 and will continue without any changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As for <strong>SkyCity venues outside New Zealand<\/strong>, SkyCity Adelaide and SkyCity Online Casino, are unaffected by the latest restrictions.\u00a0SkyCity Adelaide remains open with physical distancing and hygiene requirements already in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SkyCity profits up 36.3% for FY21<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/skycity-profits-up-36-3-for-fy21\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">SkyCity Entertainment Group<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>has shared its financial results for the fiscal year 2021, reporting<strong>&nbsp;normalised profit after tax (NPAT) up 36.3 per cent<\/strong>&nbsp;and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) up 25.5 per cent year-on-year. Its&nbsp;<strong>net profit of AU$156.1m was down 34 per cent&nbsp;<\/strong>from the previous year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reported EBITDA was down 8.9 per cent and reported NPAT was down 33.7 per cent versus the prior year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company said it had<strong>&nbsp;benefitted from domestic tourism<\/strong>, particularly on the weekend and holidays at its Adelaide, Hamilton, and Queenstown venues.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A<strong>&nbsp;strong performance from its gaming businesses<\/strong>&nbsp;in New Zealand has resulted in 45,000 active customers.
