However, it was the second-lowest monthly GGR figure of 2021,&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-ggr-down-47-7-in-august\">after August<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau reported that despite the growth in GGR,&nbsp;<strong>the number of tourist arrivals was down<\/strong>&nbsp;mainly due to restrictions imposed in neighbouring Zhuhai in Guangdong province and a mandatory 14-day quarantine for inbound travel from Macau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-arrivals-plummet-after-new-covid-19-cases\">Macau has been affected<\/a>&nbsp;by a new outbreak of Covid-19 cases which led the number of tourist arrivals to plummet by 70 per cent. Analysts at Bernstein Research predict that&nbsp;<strong>October\u2019s Golden Week<\/strong>&nbsp;will now be weaker than expected. They expect the city to see a recovery later in the month and into November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Analysts at JP Morgan Securities<\/strong>&nbsp;also believe&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-october-golden-week-at-risk-amid-local-covid-19-cases\">expectations for the national holiday<\/a>&nbsp;could be deeply affected by new countermeasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Macau&#8217;s GGR for the third quarter was MOP$18.76bn<\/strong>, down 26 per cent when compared to the previous quarter. Aggregate&nbsp;<strong>casino GGR for the first nine months of the year<\/strong>&nbsp;totals MOP$67.79bn, up 76 per cent year-on-year when compared to the MOP$38.61bn reached during the previous year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>May remains the month with the highest GGR of the year to date<\/strong>, mainly thanks to the&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-received-165500-visitors-arrivals-over-labour-day-break\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Labour Day break<\/a>, when Macau\u2019s Public Security Police reported that&nbsp;<strong>165,500 tourists came to Macau<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Analysts believe Macau is unlikely to remove its<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-unlikely-to-ease-travel-limits-this-year-analysts-say\">travel restrictions<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>for people coming from places beyond mainland China before 2022. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Macau to revise budget forecast due to low GGR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ho Iat Seng, Macau\u2019s chief executive<\/strong>, has said&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/macau-to-revise-budget-forecast-due-to-low-ggr\">the city will have to revise its budget<\/a>&nbsp;as he expects casino gross gaming revenue will fail to recover.
