{"id":23156,"date":"2021-09-30T13:14:31","date_gmt":"2021-09-30T16:14:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/?p=23156"},"modified":"2026-04-23T15:11:50","modified_gmt":"2026-04-23T18:11:50","slug":"china-and-cambodia-renew-agreement-on-cross-border-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-and-cambodia-renew-agreement-on-cross-border-crime","title":{"rendered":"China and Cambodia renew agreement on cross border crime"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Authorities from China and Cambodia have signed an agreement to continue working together against cross-border crimes, including illegal online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>China.- China and Cambodia have renewed their existing cooperation agreement on cross border gambling. <strong>China\u2019s Minister of Public Security and Cambodia\u2019s Minister of Interior<\/strong> have agreed to continue tackling cross-border crimes,<strong>&nbsp;including illegal online gambling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When the first agreement was signed, in March 2019, Cambodia banned online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cambodia\u2019s Minister of Interior said: \u201cBoth sides have agreed to continue&nbsp;<strong>promoting law enforcement cooperation to prevent transnational crimes of all kinds<\/strong>, especially organised crimes, online gambling, online money extortion and drug trafficking.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A week ago,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/cambodia-police-raided-a-casino-building-for-illegal-gambling\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cambodian officers<\/a>&nbsp;arrested&nbsp;<strong>15 Chinese citizens during a raid during<\/strong>&nbsp;a venue in Preah Sihanouk over allegations of cryptocurrency dealing, illegal gambling and other related crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officers said the arrests were made for&nbsp;<strong>illegal gambling activities, cryptocurrency gambling and scamming<\/strong>, phishing and cross-territory trafficking of people, among other crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The China-Cambodia Law Enforcement Cooperation Office said: \u201cChinese police and Cambodian police are looking for a way to resolve the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is every police officer\u2019s responsibility to crack down on crimes of this nature which are particularly horrific. Our government has a very strict policy to crack down on such crimes. It is a key task for our police to stop this from occurring and we are cooperating with police internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">China continues to expand gambling blacklist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/china-continues-to-expand-gambling-blacklist\">Chinese authorities<\/a>&nbsp;have said they have added more overseas gambling destinations to the&nbsp;<strong>country\u2019s blacklist&nbsp;<\/strong>of destinations to which cross-border transfers are controlled.
