Authorities from China and Cambodia have signed an agreement to continue working together against cross-border crimes, including illegal online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

China.- China and Cambodia have renewed their existing cooperation agreement on cross border gambling. China\u2019s Minister of Public Security and Cambodia\u2019s Minister of Interior<\/strong> have agreed to continue tackling cross-border crimes, including illegal online gambling<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When the first agreement was signed, in March 2019, Cambodia banned online gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cambodia\u2019s Minister of Interior said: \u201cBoth sides have agreed to continue promoting law enforcement cooperation to prevent transnational crimes of all kinds<\/strong>, especially organised crimes, online gambling, online money extortion and drug trafficking.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A week ago, Cambodian officers<\/a> arrested 15 Chinese citizens during a raid during<\/strong> a venue in Preah Sihanouk over allegations of cryptocurrency dealing, illegal gambling and other related crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers said the arrests were made for illegal gambling activities, cryptocurrency gambling and scamming<\/strong>, phishing and cross-territory trafficking of people, among other crimes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The China-Cambodia Law Enforcement Cooperation Office said: \u201cChinese police and Cambodian police are looking for a way to resolve the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt is every police officer\u2019s responsibility to crack down on crimes of this nature which are particularly horrific. Our government has a very strict policy to crack down on such crimes. It is a key task for our police to stop this from occurring and we are cooperating with police internationally.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

China continues to expand gambling blacklist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Chinese authorities<\/a> have said they have added more overseas gambling destinations to the country\u2019s blacklist <\/strong>of destinations to which cross-border transfers are controlled. Despite the fact that the original list has yet to made public, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism said it would work with other government <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to authorities, the so-called blacklist aims to \u201csafeguard the lives and financial safety of Chinese citizens<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry said: \u201cWe will adopt measures to suspend outbound tour groups and the arrangement of tourist visas for trips to these cities and attractions abroad that are on the blacklist.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The blacklist<\/strong> was established in 2020<\/strong> and is compiled through work by multiple departments, including the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
