According to a new report,\u00a0<strong>spending on gambling websites in both cities rose 329 per cent\u00a0<\/strong>above ordinary levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The figure is even higher than that seen <strong>during lockdowns in 2020<\/strong>, when spending rose 215 per cent over pre-pandemic levels.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AlphaBeta and illion, two companies that track consumer spending in Australia, report that the\u00a0<strong>average weekly spend on gambling <\/strong>rose from a base record of 100 preceding the lockdowns to 384.3 for the week that finished on September 19, 2021<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEO of illion believes the rise was mostly due to the\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/victoria-extends-covid-19-lockdown\">closure of casinos<\/a>\u00a0and pubs, which led Australians to look for other gambling options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tasmania introduces loss limits on pokie loyalty programmes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>Tasmania Liquor and Gaming Commission<\/strong>&nbsp;has introduced a new measure for members of&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/tasmania-introduces-loss-limits-on-pokie-loyalty-programmes\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">slot loyalty programmes<\/a>&nbsp;at Tasmania\u2019s two land-based casinos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the new rules, players must set annual rather than daily limits for losses and must declare their capability to financially sustain their losses.
