Officers said that\u00a0<strong>one of those arrested was a bookmaker\u00a0<\/strong>while a 49-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of having supplied unlawful remote betting services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest of those arrested, aged between 30 to 72 years old, are suspected of having used illicit gambling services. During the raid,\u00a0<strong>police seized S$9,000 (US$6,600)<\/strong>, mobile phones and gambling equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As indicated by laws in Singapore, those found guilty of illegal gambling could face fines of up to S$5,000 as well as long as a half year prison time. Anybody sentenced for organising illegal gambling operations could face a fine between S$20,000 to S$200,000 as well as five years in jail.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In August,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/focusgn.com\/asia-pacific\/singapore-21-arrested-for-illegal-gambling\">police arrested 21 people<\/a>\u00a0for alleged\u00a0<strong>gambling activities<\/strong>. A raid was carried out on a commercial unit in Bukit Batok Crescent, where\u00a0<strong>11 women and 10 men were said to be gambling.<\/strong> Officers said those arrested included a couple who were using the unit as an\u00a0<strong>illegal gambling venue<\/strong>. The other people were arrested for gambling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the raid,<strong>&nbsp;police seized equipment.&nbsp;<\/strong>Those arrested are also accused of breaching Covid-19 measures ordered by the government.
