Macau.- Macau’s expectations for the October Golden week continue to rise<\/strong>, and the government hopes for a strong boost for the economy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Macao Government Tourism Office director\u00a0Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes had hoped to<\/strong>\u00a0receive 35,000 visitors a day<\/strong>\u00a0during the\u00a0October Golden Week<\/a>.\u00a0 However,\u00a0Andy Wu, president of the Travel Industry Council of Macau\u00a0<\/strong>has raised expectations to 40.000 daily visitors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This year the October Golden Week will be held through the first seven days of the month as the holiday period incorporates China\u2019s National Day on October 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In an interview with GGRAsia, Andy Wu Keng Kuong said: “It is possible that we could see Macau\u2019s average hotel occupancy rate be in the range of 70 per cent to 80 per cent for the National Day break.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n The national statistics bureau has reported that 409,207 visitors arrived in Macau last month, down 48.2 per cent when compared to July, when the city recorded 789,407 visitors<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Macau also saw a decline in GGR in August<\/a>, a month that was impacted by local cases of Covid-19<\/a> and hundreds of cancelled flights.
