According to analysts, casino operators in Australia could see a decline in revenue as a result of compliance initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Australia.- Analysts an expansion of regulatory oversight<\/strong> in Australia that could impact on operators’ revenues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In June, the\u00a0national financial crimes watchdog<\/a>\u00a0AUSTRAC\u00a0<\/strong>launched an investigation into Australia\u2019s three main casino operators:\u00a0SkyCity, Star Entertainment Group and Crown Resorts<\/strong>. It also took advantage of its relationship with banks to carry out deeper investigations<\/a> into\u00a0the casino sector<\/strong>‘s potential non-compliance with AML rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Casino Guardian, analysts now believe that a tightening of controls could lead to a drop in casino revenue<\/strong>. Companies could be forced to invest more money in compliance initiatives and to stop offering products and services considered harmful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experts also noted that the Australian government could announce stricter\u00a0measures aimed at addressing problem gambling problems.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, Fitch Ratings<\/strong> believes that changes in gambling regulation in Australia aren’t the only risk. They note that limitations on the movement of funds, the Covid-19 pandemic and strained relations with China could also harm revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casinos remain affected by the lack of tourists. Authorities have said that\u00a0Australia\u2019s international borders<\/a>\u00a0would remain closed until at least mid-2022 to avoid the arrival of new Covid-19 cases<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Casinos in Victoria and New South Wales may reopen in late October<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Gaming lounges and entertainment facilities in Victoria and New South Wales <\/strong>may be able to reopen next month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Victorian premier Daniel Andrews<\/strong> has said that he aims to reopen the state\u2019s economic activities once 70 per cent of Victorian adults are fully vaccinated against Covid-19, a milestone that\u2019s expected to be reached around October 26. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, entertainment venues, stadiums and sports centres<\/strong> will not reopen until 80 per cent of adults have been vaccinated, which is expected on around November 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gladys Bereljiklian<\/strong>, the NSW premier, has made a similar announcement. The state is also testing a \u201chome quarantine\u201d programme.
